THE WORD WILL BUILD YOU UP

THE WORD WILL BUILD YOU UP

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified”. Acts 20:32

The above scripture shows us something interesting about the numerous blessings conveyed by the word of God’s grace.

The word of His grace has the ability to build you up. Every believer must take his/her spiritual growth and development seriously.

This will help him to enjoy his inheritance in Christ; it is the word of God that causes this to happen.

The Amplified version of the bible renders

Acts 20:32 as “And now [brethren], I commit you to God [I deposit you in His charge, entrusting you to His protection and care]. And I commend you to the Word of His grace [to the commands and counsels and promises of His unmerited favor]. It is able to build you up and to give you [your rightful] inheritance among all God’s set-apart ones (those consecrated, purified, and transformed of soul)”

It’s important for every one of us to be given to the study of the word of God which entails reading the scriptures, listening, meditating and practicing the word.

The attitude of those Paul preached to in Berea was commended:

“Now these [Jews] were better disposed and more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they were entirely ready and accepted and welcomed the message [concerning the attainment through Christ of eternal salvation in the kingdom of God] with inclination of mind and eagerness, searching and examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so” (Acts 17:11 AMP).

They received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures. And we’re later told that many of them believed: “Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few” (Acts 17:12).

Now, when a believer is committed to searching the scriptures, he keeps growing in the knowledge of Christ; because the scriptures testify of Jesus:

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39)

The more you grow in the knowledge of Christ, the more you know who you are, what you have and what Christ is doing through you; because you’re like Him:

“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because AS HE IS, SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD” (1John 4:17).

It is the word that builds up and gives an expression to the power and glory of God in your life. In Paul’s letter to Timothy, he says “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all” (1Timothy 4:15).

Give yourself completely to the word, and your progress or advancement in all things will become evident to all men.

Prayer:
I give myself completely to the word of God, thus, I’m built up and my progress is apparent to all.
