THE WORD BECAME HUMAN: THE INCARNATION OF GOD

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14

The incarnation of God happened when the word that was God in the beginning became human.

In John 1:1-3. John wrote, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” The word that became flesh was God in the beginning.

In other words, the word of God is a person, a divine person. The word of God is God!

The word became human for the redemption of man. The incarnation was necessary because the scriptures must be fulfilled.

It is written, “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4).

In Paul’s letter to the Christians at Rome, he said, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Anyone who sinned deserved death.
Death is the wage of sin. Interestingly, the Lord would paralyze the devil and deliver his captives through death.

The writer of the book of Hebrews explains this: “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14-15).

It is human to die, so, the Lord became human to die and redeem man from sin. As human, He was tempted in every respect as we are:

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

He is able to help us in our temptation because He was tempted too:

“For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted” (Hebrews 2:18). However, as God, he could not be tempted (James 1:13)

The word becoming human was a fulfilment of the scriptures; hence, our blessing and glory. It happened to our advantage. Glory to God!

Confession
Thank you, dear Father, for your word that became human for my redemption. I’ve been forgiven and blessed forever. Halleluyah!
