That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive

The importance of growing up spiritually cannot be overemphasized.
One of the proofs of maturity is the ability to discern. As you grow in the knowledge of the word, you will be able to tell the difference not only between good and bad but also between good and nearly good.
For the believer, his refusal to grow up in the things of the Spirit makes him gullible to deception
