DO AWAY WITH PRIDE

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Romans 12:3

Pride is not of God; therefore, every child of God must do away with pride. Pride is always associated with the devil. That makes Satan the author of pride. We belong to God; therefore, we should never allow pride to stay in our hearts.

Pride is of the heart, and it is expressed through words and actions. For us, we are not permitted to reason beyond the scriptures.

Paul said, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3).

You must always have a sane estimate of yourself.
Let us see this same scripture in the Amplified version of the Bible:

“For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him” (Romans 12:3AMP).

When a man has an exaggerated opinion of his importance, he is proud. That means he is thinking of himself more highly than he ought to.

Now, this is not to say that you should not think big. There is nothing wrong with thinking big, but there is something wrong with thinking that you are better than every other person or that nothing can be done without you.

The only thing that could warrant that is comparing yourself with others, which the scripture says is not wise (2 Cor.10:12).

Do not think beyond what is written.
When a man is trapped by pride, his experience in life will not be commensurate with his exaggerated opinion of himself because pride always brings low.

Proverbs 29:23 says, “A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit”.

Moreover, your attitude to God’s word determines whether you are humble or proud. Right attitude towards God’s word equals HUMILITY, while PRIDE is a wrong attitude towards the word.

Do you want to make consistent, apparent progress in life, God’s way? Then, do away with pride by submitting yourself to the supremacy of God’s will, counsel, and purpose for your life.

Confession
I submit myself completely to the supremacy of God’s will, counsel, and purpose. Therefore, I experience consistent progress in life.
