KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE IN CHRIST

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus
Philemon 1:6

Having precise knowledge of what we have in Christ makes us effective in what God has called us to do.

We need to realize that our God is good and that every good gift and every perfect gift is from Him.

In his letter, the apostle James said, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17).

The believer is lavished with every good and perfect gift in Christ. We need to have an accurate understanding of this truth so that we can grow and walk in the reality of these blessings.

Ignorance is the bane of some of God’s children, resulting from not being properly taught because accurate and precise teaching of the word produces accurate and precise knowledge of the word.

Hence, if you are not well taught, you will lack accurate and precise knowledge of every good thing you have in Christ.

What the Apostle Paul was implying in our opening text is that having precise and correct knowledge of every good thing we have in Christ will make us effective in the sharing of our faith.

The Amplified version of the Bible translates this verse in the following manner: “[And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory]” (Philemon 1:6AMP)

Your fruitfulness as a child of God largely depends on you acknowledging with precise and accurate knowledge every good thing in you in Christ.

This is why Paul’s prayers for believers in his epistles were for insight.

For example, in Colossians 1:9-11, Paul prayed, “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness”

You become fruitful in every good work with precise and accurate knowledge.

Remember you were born for good works “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).

Confession
I have precise knowledge and an accurate understanding of every blessing I have in Christ. Therefore, I’m fruitful in every good work.
