Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise — the fruit of lips that confess his name.
Hebrews 13:15 (NIV)
God wants His children to continually glorify His name. He desires that we praise Him always, and truly, He deserves to be praised. We are people of praise. We have genuine reasons for praising God.
The salvation He has given us is eternal. John, the Apostle, recorded what the twenty-four elders said when they were worshipping God “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” (Revelation 4:11).
Our praise is well pleasing to God. He made us true worshippers to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3). We should be conscious that God loves it when we praise Him. Today, God inhabits us and our praises.
You may want to ask how to glorify His name. The scripture says, “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God” (Psalm 50:23).
When we offer praise, we glorify God. Furthermore, we are to do this regularly.
Our opening scripture says, “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise — the fruit of lips that confess his name” (Heb 13:15 NIV).
The writer of the Book of Hebrews did not neglect to explain how to offer the sacrifice of praise. He said, “which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name”. In Hosea 14:2, the scripture says, “…so will we render the calves of our lips”. This is how to offer the sacrifice of praise.
The psalmist said, “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together” (Psalm 34:1-3). Bless Him at all times, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever.
In Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, It is evident that we give thanks well when we pray in the Spirit “What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?” (1Corinthians 14:15-16)
Confession
I offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, the fruit of my lips, giving thanks to His name.
